Thankful Thursday

I am thankful that my children are not too skirmish to touch slithery things. I'm thankful that I can hide my fear of snakes enough so that my children do not take on my fears and do not miss opportunities like these. I'm thankful that the Naturalist at Fall Creek Falls State Park did a special program just for us camping homeschoolers. I'm thankful that I did not vomit all over the snakes because they are so disgusting. So much to be thankful for on such an ordinary Thursday!

Golden Locks for Locks of Love

Several months ago, Leah and I had a conversation about her cousin, Anna, who was growing her hair long enough to give to a little girl that does not have hair because she was sick. After numerous conversations clarifying for Leah that she was not sick and she will still have hair, she said she wanted to do it, too, just like Anna.

However, it needed a few more months of growth to be long enough for the required 10" minimum for Locks of Love. Finally, the day has come. With no car and one Salon within walking distance, we hiked to Prestige on Main Street. Here are the photos to record her generous heart:

Doesn't it look great? She loves it. She's been flipping it around all afternoon. But really, when you're starting with such beauty (yes, I admit I am biased), does the hair matter at all?

Now that's one BIG family...

Unfortunately, sometimes it takes events like Nana's illness and death to gather the entire family. An event which has not happened since the birth of the "four-year-old" group (Leah, and three of her cousins were all born within four months of each other in 2003). So, here is the group photo taken Easter Sunday gathered around Papa (fourth from the right). Only one cousin and one husband is missing from the photo).
