I'm Back!

I'm unsure if Blogger would start charging me for a free blog space if I didn't update this soon, so here's a brief update on the Daniellos:

As many of you already know, Rich's mother died Wednesday, March 19 after her relatively brief battle with cancer. We were very fortunate to aid in her care during the past two months and were able to spend so many beautiful moments with her. And we have learned so much about life, death and faith through the process. The children have also taught me a great deal about seeing the innocence and simplicity in very complicated circumstances. Throughout this process, many folks approached me with thanks for what we did as a family, the sacrifices we made. They would tell me how fortunate she was to have us there to help the way we did. However, I wonder if they know how selfishly we relished in her last few days? How selfishly we enjoyed listening to her lifetime of stories? How selfishly proud we felt to be able to serve her after all she has done for so many people? I wonder if they know the conviction my children have in heaven and God's plan for Nana and His plan for them that they could only have learned at such an age because of Nana? Or if they realize they we were the blessed and fortunate ones to be able to selfishly steal so many beautiful moments from her in her last few weeks. I wonder if they would thank someone who has been so selfish? I wonder...
